Sea Dreams Hotel is a family-run boutique hotel on the island of Caye Caulker. This is one of the hotels closest to Caye Caulker’s famous “split” — a section where the island is cleaved in two, and clear, shallow water invites visitors to go for a wade.
The Split is a popular place for visitors to hang out, and there’s a beachside bar and grill right next to the water. There’s no sandy beach here, but a pier that offers easy access to the water. Caye Caulker has a laidback reputation. Bars play reggae music, and restaurants serve recently caught fish and lobster. On the north side of the island, take kayaking tours of the mangroves. You’ll also want to set aside plenty of time for scuba diving and snorkeling tours of the barrier reef that’s a short distance from the island. Sea Dreams Hotel is ideally located for planning fishing excursions.
The hotel’s dock offers guests easy access to the beautiful water. This is a great place to swim, fish, and socialize. In the courtyard, you’ll be surrounded by trees and other native plants. You can get a massage at the rooftop massage hut, which gets a nice sea breeze. Guests can use the hotel’s bikes for free. Because Caye Caulker is flat and easily navigable, bikes are a popular mode of transportation.
Accommodations here are cozy and calm, with tropical color schemes and homey wood furniture. You can choose from rooms, apartments, an entire villa, or a beachside bungalow with stilts and a thatch roof.
All rooms come with air conditioning. Wi-Fi and desks allow for convenient workstations, and rooms also have cable TV. Help yourself to the room’s complimentary coffee and bottled water, and the mini fridges come stocked with beer and soda that you can purchase. Each room has a private bathroom. Bathrooms are equipped with hair dryers, as well as environmentally friendly shampoo and conditioner dispensers.
Breakfast is included and your stay, and is served every morning from 7:30 am to 9:30 am on the rooftop patio. Freshly prepared egg dishes and pancakes are served alongside fresh orange juice and locally grown coffee.
The management here believes in sustainable hospitality, and some of this hotel’s profit gets invested in the community. Sea Dreams Hotel runs a scholarship program that helps put local children through high school.
