Coco Plum Island Resort sits on a modest, palm‑fringed island just off the coast of Dangriga, Belize. The property is reached by a short boat ride from the mainland, placing guests within easy reach of the town’s Garifuna heritage while offering the seclusion of an island retreat. Its address—essentially the sea itself—means that the sound of gentle waves is a constant backdrop to the stay.
Our new seawall is complete! While we no longer have a traditional walk-in beach, the island remains just as stunning. Picture sun-drenched decks, overwater views, and secluded spots perfect for celebrating any occasion.
The resort’s atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. Simple, well‑maintained cottages line a tidy beachfront, each equipped with air‑conditioned rooms, private bathrooms, and basic amenities designed for comfort rather than extravagance. The public areas, including a modest pool and a beachfront bar, are kept clean and orderly, reflecting the staff’s commitment to a tidy environment. Throughout the day, the tone is friendly: staff members greet guests by name, offer assistance with arranging excursions, and attend promptly to any request, creating a sense of genuine hospitality without the pressure of high‑end marketing.
Beyond the resort, the surrounding area provides a range of low‑key activities that complement the laid‑back vibe of the island. The nearby town of Dangriga is a cultural hub for the Garifuna people, where visitors can explore local markets, sample traditional drumming performances, and visit the Gulisi Garifuna Museum. The waters around Coco Plum are part of the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System, offering excellent snorkeling and diving opportunities at sites such as the South Water Caye Marine Reserve and the famous Hol Chan Marine Reserve. For those who prefer staying on land, short boat trips can be arranged to the mangrove‑lined St. Herman’s Blue Hole, a popular spot for birdwatching and kayaking. Fishing charters, sunset cruises, and guided nature walks are also readily available.
In keeping with its emphasis on cleanliness and comfort, Coco Plum Island Resort maintains a regular schedule of housekeeping and routine inspections, ensuring that guest rooms and communal spaces remain spotless. The on‑site restaurant serves a limited menu of fresh, locally sourced seafood and standard breakfast fare, prepared in a kitchen that adheres to basic health standards. Guests can expect a straightforward, welcoming experience where the priority is a clean, comfortable place to rest after a day of exploring Belize’s coastal culture and natural beauty.
