Is The Government Stable in Belize?
Belize is governed by a stable parliamentary democracy. The Belizean government formed relatively recently – Belize became an independent country in 1981, and the first Belizean parliament assembled in 1984. The same constitution has been in effect since 1981.

Guatemala gave up its long-standing attempt to make Belize part of its territory in 1991, and the historically opposed countries established diplomatic relations.
Great Britain, the U.S., Canada, and the United Nations have helped Belize maintain stability by providing disaster relief and supplementary law enforcement resources.
