How Long Should I Stay In Rwanda?
Most visitors spend between five and ten days in Rwanda, depending on their interests. A focused gorilla trekking trip can be accomplished in three to four days, while a comprehensive safari covering multiple parks requires seven to ten days.
A typical gorilla-focused itinerary includes arrival in Kigali, transfer to Volcanoes National Park area lodges, one or two gorilla treks, and optional golden monkey tracking before departure. This can be accomplished comfortably in four to five days.
For a more complete Rwanda experience, add two to three days for Nyungwe Forest National Park (chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk) and two to three days for Akagera National Park (Big Five safari). Including cultural experiences in Kigali adds another day or two.
The 30-day tourist visa provides ample time for extensive exploration. Many visitors combine Rwanda with Uganda for additional gorilla trekking in Bwindi or with Tanzania for Serengeti safari experiences.
