Do I Need Vaccinations for Rwanda?
Yellow fever vaccination is required if arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission, and you'll need to present a valid vaccination certificate. Several other vaccinations are recommended but not mandatory.

Recommended vaccinations include Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, and ensuring routine immunizations (measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, diphtheria) are current. Rabies vaccination may be advisable if your itinerary includes extensive wildlife encounters or remote areas.
Malaria is present throughout Rwanda, including in all national parks. Antimalarial medication is strongly recommended. Consult a travel health specialist at least four to six weeks before departure to determine the best antimalarial regimen for your health profile. Common options include atovaquone-proguanil (Malarone), doxycycline, or mefloquine.
In addition to medication, protect against mosquito bites by using repellents with DEET, wearing long sleeves and pants during dawn and dusk, and sleeping under treated mosquito nets where provided.
Note: Travelers aged 60 and older should consult their physician regarding yellow fever vaccination, as the vaccine carries slightly higher risks for older adults.
