This tour has two snorkeling stops – Tres Cocos and Mexico Rocks. These are easy places to snorkel, with shallow water, lots of interesting marine life, and good visibility. After your snorkeling and before returning to Ambergris Caye, the crew will prepare a BBQ lunch aboard the boat.

Tres Cocos a spot inside the Belize Barrier Reef, located just a short boat ride from San Pedro. It’s 4 to 8 feet (1 to 2 m) deep, and features tremendous coral growth, including elephant coral and brain coral. This stop is less known than Mexico Rocks, and is a good place to explore the reef without competing for space with other swimmers.

Mexico Rocks is part of Ambergris Caye’s Hol Chan Marine Reserve. It’s also fairly shallow here, making it easy to get close to schools of tropical fish. Other species to look for include spiny lobster, eels, and nurse sharks.

Snorkel Hol Chan and Stingray Alley

Snorkeling at the Hol Chan Marine Reserve is a sure-fire way to experience Belize’s diversity of marine life up-close. Animals at Hol Chan are used to getting fed by people on boats, so they’re relatively bold around snorkelers. This spot gets a lot of marine traffic, and every minute you spend underwater you’ll get to see something new.
