Make sure to arrive at Ramon’s Village with enough time to get your rental equipment. The Mexico Rocks are just off the coast of Ambergris Caye in the Hol Chan Marine Reserve. You’ll see intricate brain coral while you’re here. This coral provides a habitat for lobster, conch, and, if you’re especially lucky, a sea turtle.

Back on board the boat, you’ll have a snack and a cold drink before beginning your return journey. If you’d like, you can snorkel along the boat as it casually drifts back toward Ramon Village.

Snorkeling at the Hol Chan Marine Reserve is a sure-fire way to experience Belize’s diversity of marine life up-close. Animals at Hol Chan are used to getting fed by people on boats, so they’re relatively bold around snorkelers. This spot gets a lot of marine traffic, and every minute you spend underwater you’ll get to see something new.
