Do I Need Vaccinations for Cambodia?
The CDC and WHO recommend several vaccinations for travel to Cambodia, including hepatitis A, typhoid, and routine vaccines like tetanus and measles. Consult your doctor or a travel medicine specialist at least 4-6 weeks before your trip.

Hepatitis A and typhoid vaccinations are recommended for all travelers, as these diseases can be contracted through contaminated food or water. Depending on your itinerary and activities, your doctor may also recommend hepatitis B, Japanese encephalitis, and rabies vaccinations.
Japanese encephalitis vaccination is worth considering if you plan to visit rural areas during the wet season (May-October), particularly near rice paddies where the virus is transmitted by mosquitoes. Rabies pre-exposure vaccination is advisable for extended stays or if you plan to spend time in remote areas far from medical facilities.
Cambodia has made remarkable progress in malaria control—no deaths have been recorded since 2017 and cases are extremely rare. The major tourist areas of Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville have no known malaria transmission. However, anti-malarial medication may be recommended for travel to remote forested areas.
