Where Are Tanzania's Airports?
Tanzania has three main international airports: Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro International Airport near Arusha, and Abeid Amani Karume International Airport in Zanzibar. Your choice of arrival airport depends on your itinerary.

Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) is the most convenient gateway for the northern safari circuit, including the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, and Lake Manyara. The airport is located between Arusha and Moshi, about an hour's drive from either town.
Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam is the country's largest airport and the best choice for travelers heading to the southern safari circuit, including Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous) and Ruaha. It also offers connections to Zanzibar.
Zanzibar's Abeid Amani Karume Airport serves the island directly, with flights from Dar es Salaam, Nairobi, and some European destinations. Many travelers combine a mainland safari with Zanzibar beach time, flying between the two.
Within the national parks, numerous small airstrips allow for bush flights directly to safari lodges, saving considerable overland travel time and adding to the adventure.
