Midas Resort is conveniently located for visiting some of Belize’s most interesting Maya ruins and the small city of San Ignacio. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the resort into downtown – you’ll stroll past the Macal River Park on your way to the local cafés, restaurants, and bars.

The ruin of Cahal Pech probably served as a ceremonial center, judging by its seven temples and large ball court. It only takes six minutes to drive to this ancient site from Midas Resort. Xunantunich is a 40-minute drive from Midas Resort, followed by a hike through the jungle. It won’t take long to arrive at the remains of Mayan city that used to have a population of around 10,000 inhabitants. Here you’ll get to see exceptionally tall temples and stones carved with intense reliefs. On the other side of the resort is the Macal River. You can visit the river for a kayaking or a canoeing adventure past banks crowded with dense jungle foliage.

You can choose from cabins and cottages nestled among the colorful plants on the property. All of the accommodations have private verandahs outfitted with hammocks. Sleek, polished wood gives the interior of these rooms a warm complexion, along with lots of natural lighting coming in through the large windows.

Air conditioning keeps these accommodations a comfortable temperature, and screens on the windows and doors keep bugs away. Each unit has a private bathroom.

There is a video game station at the bar, along with a bountiful selection of liquors. The bar is conveniently located near the pool. You can paddle around the pool’s manmade waterfall and then lounge under an umbrella with a cocktail and a snack. Guests can access the resort’s free Wi-Fi from the bar and the pool.

Midas Resort serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the dining room’s large buffet. You can try Belizean classics as well as some dishes you’re more familiar with, and walk to downtown San Ignacio when you’re ready to try some of the local restaurants.

Feedback from Travelers

We really enjoyed our stay. Conveniently located to restaurants, groceries and the Farmer's Market. Breakfast was very good with generous portions. The walls of our unit were a little thin, or maybe we just had neighbors who giggled a lot! All in all, we would definitely recommend.

Lovely little cabana surrounded by nature and walkable to town. Nice big pool. We didn’t see any menus for food being served at the bar in evenings but the breakfasts were good

Midas Resort has a very friendly staff who cater to your every need. I would highly recommend staying! The pool is awesome and even has a secret cave under the waterfall. The only negative thing I would have to say is that the wifi connection in the rooms is minimal, so if you were someone who HAD to have internet, it would be a difficult place to stay.
