The Las Lagunas Boutique Hotel spreads across 200 acres (80 ha) and combines the comfort of a boutique hotel with the ruggedness of a private reserve.
The reserve is focused on conserving native Guatemalan species. In fact, the hotel works hand-in-hand with CONAP (Consejo Nacional de Areas Protegidas) to educate guests about local flora and fauna. Guests can enjoy a range of eco-activities while here, including hiking, bird watching, kayaking, and ATV rides. There is also a swimming pool where guests can cool off.
The accommodations consist of 16 comfortably equipped suites. Some suites are located in the jungle while others overlook the Quexil Lagoon. The suites are set in spacious bungalows that are positioned above the ground. Each has a private deck with a Jacuzzi and a private bathroom with a rain shower. The comfy beds have Egyptian cotton sheets and a feather duvet. Each suite also comes equipped with a satellite TV, iPod dock, minibar, air conditioning, and safety deposit box.
Shultun, the hotel's main restaurant, has spectacular views of the lagoon and a sophisticated ambiance. Its chef combines local ingredients with international cuisine; the result is delicious. The bar menu includes carefully chosen wines, signature cocktails, and international brands of whisky, rum, gin, and vodka. Room service is also available.
Great hotel! Food was excellent, great amenities. Definitely a must!
It was a wonderful place but we missed not being able to explore Flores. I would have liked to wander the streets of Flores.
