Dos Mundos Beach Resort

Monterrico is a mellow town along the Pacific coast of Guatemala. The town is actually located within the Biotopo Monterrico-Hawaii, a nature reserve along the coast. Leatherback and olive ridley sea turtles come here to nest and there’s also a turtle hatchery located in town—this gives travelers the chance to witness the hatching and release of baby sea turtles. Travelers can also relax on the beach or tour the nearby mangroves on kayak.

The Dos Mundos Beach Resort is located along a stretch of beach just outside Monterrico. Guests will have easy access to the beach and ocean from here. Walk onto the sand to feel the waves wash over your feet and the breeze in your hair.

The hotel is composed of bungalows interspersed around a lovely garden. The construction style is typical for the coastal regional of Guatemala—thatched-roof ceilings, circular buildings, and wooden beams. The surrounding gardens are well maintained and attractive.

Dos Mundos has 14 bungalows scattered around its property. The bungalows are clean and feel private. All have air conditioning and a private bathroom. Store your important valuables in a safety deposit box, and keep drinks cold in a mini-fridge. The beds here are comfy and come in twin, queen-size, and king-size options. All bungalows also have a patio with a hammock—it’s pleasant to spend the early evening lounging in the hammock and reading.

A daily breakfast, included in the rate, is offered to guests each morning. This is eaten in the dining area, which is a large, open-air, thatched-roof structure. A variety of tasty meals (including fresh seafood) are served throughout the rest of the day here.

During the day you can hang out at the hotel’s pool, which faces the beach. This is a great place to cool off and relax with a drink from the nearby bar. Additionally, there is a kiddie pool where children can splash around and swim. There are chairs surrounding the pool that can be used for sunbathing.
