Santa Catarina Palopó is a small and traditional town that’s set a few miles east of Panajachel. The town, which rises into the hills above the lake, is set in a lovely location. While strolling the streets of Santa Catarina you can look out over the blue waters of Lake Atitlán and see three volcanoes in the distance. The town itself is fairly quiet, but is a good place to shop for handicrafts, go swimming, and take it easy.
