Santiago Atitlán is located along the southwest corner of Lake Atitlán. It’s less touristy than other towns in the area, but is still quite appealing. The town is bordered by the blue waters of the lake and lies in the shadow of three volcanoes. Horseback rides, hiking, and kayaking can be enjoyed in the surrounding area. In town travelers can visit the market, museum, or 16th-century church to get a sense of the local culture.

Hotel Tiosh Abaj is a warm and welcoming place. The staff makes guests feel at home and is attentive to your needs. The hotel grounds are extensive and park-like—there are views that look out towards the volcanoes and Lake Atitlán.

The hotel’s 30 rooms are tastefully decorated and clean. There are traditional textiles on the beds, hand-carved wooden doors, and polished tile floors. The furniture is hand-made and the orthopedic beds are comfortable. All rooms feature a private bathroom, hot water shower, cable TV, writing desk, and closet. Wireless Internet is available for guests with smart phones, tablets, or laptops. Large balconies, set with a table and chairs, look out over the hotel grounds. Rooms on higher floors even have views of the lake.
The suites are more spacious and comfortable. In addition to the previously mentioned amenities, the suites have couches, fireplaces, and a bathtub.

The hotel’s restaurant is large and has outdoor patio seating—enjoying breakfast in the sunlight is a delightful way to begin your day. The coffee is extremely fresh and is grown in a plantation right across the lake. The menu incorporates a range of national and international dishes, which are carefully prepared by chefs who use produce from the hotel’s own organic gardens. The bar is stocked with a wide range of cocktails, liquors, beer, wine, and fruit juice.

Guests of Tiosh Abaj will enjoy lounging in hammocks and swimming in the large, dolphin-shaped pool. The pool has a small waterslide and volleyball net. You can enjoy a full-service food and bar menu while you relax on the pool deck or lie in a hammock under the trees. Guests can also relax in the hotel’s two traditional saunas.

Tiosh Abaj provides an ideal setting for meetings, corporate retreats, weddings, conferences, and other special events. There are two conference rooms, each of which can accommodate up to 75 people. Projector screens, whiteboards and flipcharts are available, and all events can be catered by the hotel’s restaurant.
