Malaria risk is low in major tourist destinations but exists in rural border areas near Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos. If your itinerary includes trekking in these regions, consult a travel health specialist about antimalarial medication. Most luxury resort areas are considered low-risk.

As of late 2025, Thailand has seen elevated cases of chikungunya, particularly in northern regions around Chiang Mai. The symptoms are similar to dengue, and the same preventive measures apply.
