When Is The Best Time To Visit Uganda?

Uganda is a year-round destination, but the dry seasons from December to February and June to September offer the most favorable conditions for gorilla trekking and wildlife safaris. Each season has distinct advantages depending on your priorities.

The dry seasons provide the best conditions for trekking and game viewing. Trails in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest are less muddy and slippery, making gorilla encounters more comfortable. In savanna parks, reduced vegetation and concentrated water sources make wildlife easier to spot.

July and August represent peak season with optimal weather, but also higher prices and more visitors. December to February offers similarly good conditions with somewhat fewer crowds. If you're flexible on dates, June or September provide excellent conditions at the shoulder of peak season.

The wet seasons (March to May and September to November) have advantages despite the rain. Lodge rates are significantly lower, parks are less crowded, and the landscape is lush and green. Brief afternoon showers rarely disrupt full-day activities, and gorilla trekking continues year-round regardless of weather.
