What Is The Weather Like In Uganda?

Average temperatures across most of Uganda range from 20-25°C (68-77°F) throughout the year. The highland regions in the southwest, including Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, are considerably cooler, with temperatures dropping to 10-15°C (50-59°F) at night. Northern Uganda and the Rift Valley floor are warmer, with daytime temperatures reaching 32°C (90°F) or higher.

Uganda has two rainy seasons: the long rains from March to May and the short rains from September to November. However, rainfall patterns vary by region, and brief afternoon showers can occur almost any time of year, especially near Lake Victoria and in the western highlands.

For gorilla trekking and wildlife safaris, the dry seasons (December to February and June to September) offer the most comfortable conditions. Trails are less muddy, and wildlife congregates around water sources, making viewing easier. That said, Uganda is a year-round destination, and the wet season offers its own advantages, including lush landscapes and lower prices.
