What Is Cambodia's Currency?
Cambodia has a unique dual-currency system using both the Cambodian Riel (KHR) and the U.S. Dollar (USD). In tourist areas, prices are often quoted in dollars, and both currencies are accepted interchangeably.

The exchange rate is approximately 4,000-4,100 Riel to one U.S. Dollar, and this rate remains relatively stable. In practice, you can pay for most things in dollars, and you'll receive change under $1 in Riel. There's no need to worry about converting between currencies—locals handle mixed-currency transactions seamlessly.
Riel banknotes come in denominations from 100 to 100,000, while coins are rarely used. For small purchases under $1, having some Riel is convenient. U.S. dollar bills should be in good condition—torn, worn, or heavily marked notes may be refused, so bring clean, newer bills from home.
