The Camino Real Tikal is located 45 minutes from the Tikal National Park. Set along the shores of Lake Petén Itzá, this hotel has comfortable rooms and a beautiful location.

Lake Petén Itzá is the second largest lake in Guatemala. The surrounding area is tranquil and absolutely gorgeous. Several small towns – like San Andrés and San José – line the shores of the lake and offer up interesting places to visit for the day, including the towns of The town of El Remate is a nice place to hang out, swim, and relax. It’s also close to the Biotopo Cerro Cahuí, which has great birding and hiking.

The rooms are clean and have nice beds and air conditioning. They have thatched-roof ceilings and balconies with views of the lake or garden. The swimming pool is nice and refreshing (especially after a day at the ruins), and there is also a Jacuzzi and sauna if you want to warm up in the evening. Guests can rent kayaks and paddle around the lake, or else tour the lake on a ship. There is also a basic open-air gym where guests can exercise. Of course, a tempting option is to simply swing in the hammocks by the lake.

The restaurant is divided into an open-air, thatched-roof portion and an indoor, air-conditioned section. There is a delicious breakfast buffet and a number of good meals for lunch and dinner. The gourmet menu combines local and international flavors and serves up a tasty variety cuisine. Room service and catering is also available.

Drinks can be enjoyed at the hotel’s bar, which is stocked with a range of national and international beer, wine, and liquor. While sipping a specialty cocktail, you can enjoy a game of darts or pool.
