Wat Xieng Thong
Nine cascading, gold‑stenciled roofs crown the Sim, the central shrine hall of Wat Xiang Thong, a 16th‑century royal temple on the northern tip of Luang Prabang’s peninsula in Laos. Built between 1559 and 1560 by King Setthathirath, the wat served as a coronation site, a shrine for relics, and a library for ancient scripts. Its historic role links the spirit of religion, royalty and traditional art.

In 1995 the city was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for this unique cultural landscape.
