Where Are Thailand's International Airports?
Thailand has two major international airports in Bangkok: Suvarnabhumi (BKK) and Don Mueang (DMK). Several regional airports also receive international flights, including Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Krabi.
Suvarnabhumi International Airport serves as Thailand's primary gateway, handling most long-haul international flights. The modern facility offers premium lounges, fast-track immigration services, and efficient connections to Bangkok via expressway or rail link.
Don Mueang Airport, the older of Bangkok's airports, primarily serves regional Asian destinations. If connecting between the two airports, allow four to five hours to account for traffic and check-in procedures.
Phuket International Airport provides convenient direct access to southern beach destinations, with connections to major Asian and some European cities. Chiang Mai International Airport offers direct flights from Asian hubs, making northern Thailand easily accessible without transiting through Bangkok.
