Lantern Making Experience

After arriving in Hoi An, the first thing you’ll notice is rows upon rows of brightly lit silk and paper lanterns lining the streets. These colorful lanterns have become a symbol of the city and an important part of the cultural heritage of Vietnam.

To reach the lantern workshop, you will meet your guide at your hotel and cycle out to a nearby village. You will have a lesson on the history and significance of silk lanterns in Vietnam, including details on their shape and color.

You will then choose your favorite style and watch the local craftsmen as they teach you the intricacies of lantern making. Next, you’ll create your very own lantern, following step-by-step instructions. If all goes well, at the end of the lesson you’ll have a unique souvenir.
