The closest village to Bamboo Sapa is Cat Cat Village, which is home to the H’mong people. Go there to haggle for souvenirs and to see the incredible waterfall at the bottom of a steep set of steps. If you want to visit a more remote village, pay a visit to the Red Dao people in Lao Cai, or the Black H’mong of Sin Chai. On visits to ethnic villages, you’ll have the chance to see people making crafts and playing traditional instruments. There are interesting hikes outside of Sapa as well — walk to Love Fall or Silver Falls for an easy jaunt or opt for a more challenging hike to Tram Ton Pass.
