Overall, the threat of hurricanes and tsunamis is relatively low in Vietnam, especially compared to other parts of Southeast Asia.

The Red River Fault System runs along northern Vietnam and is the cause of many of Vietnam’s earthquakes. The most recent earthquakes have been mild. Typhoon season takes place in southern Vietnam from May to January, and the Mekong Delta is prone to flooding.
