This tour begins with a 90-minute trip from Baños to Puyo, through the picturesque Waterfalls Route of Sangay National Park. On the route, your naturalist guide will show you and explain about the flora and fauna that surrounds the area.
Our first stop will be at an animal shelter center where you will observe and learn about animal species such as monkeys, cats and birds representative of the Ecuadorian Amazon.
Next visit will be to the Coto Cocha Quichua community, where we will learn about these indigenous peoples and see their handmade pottery and other handicrafts. A beautiful ride on the Puyo River will follow, in a wooden canoe typical of those used by the community.
Time for lunch prepared in the Hola Vida reservation. We will serve a classic Ecuadorian dish known as Maito de Pescado (fish that has been cooked in the leaves of bijao found in the surrounding forest). This is a very healthy and tasty dish! Chicken and vegetarian options are available upon request.
In the afternoon we will walk through the forest while our guide explains about the Ecuadorian jungle, identifying several plants with different uses and properties. Imagine a plant that can give us a temporary tattoo in the jungle! The walk will take us to a beautiful hidden waterfall, inviting us to bathe in its crystal clear waters. To end the day, we will see the sunset from a viewpoint in the jungle. This is an ideal time to take photos or just relax and enjoy the incredible view. Return to Baños.
Many of our tours and activities offer transportation pick up & drop off options from several locations and destinations. Options vary by tour, see “BOOKING REQUEST” for full details.
