Cuenca is the third largest city in Ecuador, but it feels like a much smaller town with its cobblestone streets and colonial architecture. The many museums, churches, and other old buildings helped Cuenca become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Travelers interested in the town’s history can visit one of the many museums or archeological sites, including Todos Los Santos, which contains structures built by the Inca, Cañari, and Spanish.
Hotel El Conquistador’s central location allows travelers to easily explore the many sites of Cuenca—the main square is just a few blocks away. It’s also only a short drive from the airport. The hotel staff is pleasant and readily offers advice about what to do (or eat) in Cuenca. Most of the staff speaks English.
