Guayaquil is Ecuador’s largest city and hosts one of the country’s two international airports (the other is in Quito). Flights to the Galápagos leave from here, so if you’re planning on going to these incredible islands you’ll likely come here first. Guayaquil has seen a surge of development lately—the result is good restaurants, shops, and nightlife. While here, plan to take a walk along the Malecón and make a visit to Parque de los Iguanas, where you’ll see groups of tame iguanas wandering around.
The Holiday Inn Guayaquil Airport will appeal to travelers looking for convenience and comfort. It’s a right across the street from the airport and is chock full of amenities. When you’re flying in late or flying out early, there’s nothing like being able to walk out the door of your hotel and basically be at the airport.
The rooms here are clean, spacious, and well appointed. After a long flight, fall asleep fast on the king or double beds. For entertainment, you can watch a movie on the cable TV or use the stereo to listen to some music. If you’re traveling on business, take advantage of the work desk, direct-dial phone, coffee maker, and Wi-Fi access. The private bathrooms have a hair dryer and hot water shower, and an iron/ironing board is also included.
The onsite Connexion Bistro Bar features local specialties from Ecuador’s coastal region and typical dishes from Guayaquil. International cuisine – including hamburgers and pasta – is also served, and there’s a buffet breakfast each morning. A variety of cold drinks, snacks, and cocktails can be ordered from the bar, which is equipped with up-to-the-minute flight screens and Wi-Fi.
The hotel’s gym has state-of-the-art treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bikes, and resistance equipment. It overlooks the city and airport and offers guests a nice place to workout. There is also an outdoor pool to use and a business center equipped with computers, copy machines, and printers.
