Most people come to Manta just for the beach, but you should also make time to experience some local history. Right next to the Murcielago Beach you can visit the Museo del Banco Central, where you can see ceramics left behind by the ancient Manta people, who settled in this part of Ecuador. About a 20-minute drive south of Manta you can visit the town of Montecristi, which attracts travelers with its vendors that sell handmade Panamanian hats.
On the grounds of the hotel, you’ll find a swimming pool that makes it easy to enjoy the view of the ocean without ever venturing onto the sand.
