Full Day Hanoi City Tour

From $143
Take a full-day city tour to see Hanoi’s compact Old Quarter and a number of cultural and historical buildings. This is an excellent introduction to the capital, complete with a fun cyclo ride. Begin the tour at the impressive Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed on Monday, Friday and from June to Auguest for annual renovation), where you’ll visit the revered leader’s simple stilt home and the beautiful One Pillar Pagoda. Your guide will help you understand the Vietnam of today through stories of Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnam War. Then, step back in time 1,000 years with a visit to the Temple of Literature. As Vietnam’s first university, this picturesque and peaceful collection of buildings has borne witness to some of the country’s greatest minds. Moving closer to the maze of alleys that is the Old Quarter you will first visit Hoan Kiem Lake. This pretty, man-made lake is a hive of activity at all times of day when locals and tourists alike seek out the calming water for a stroll, a little exercise, and a catch-up with friends. Your tour includes a stop at Ngoc Son Temple, a site that pays homage to Saint Van Xuong and General Trang Hung Dao. Later in the afternoon, hop on a cyclo for a 1-hour ride through the chaotic streets of the Old Quarter and learn about the trades that gave the alleys their names. Note: If your visit is on Monday or Friday, the Ho Chi Minh complex will be replaced by Hoa Lo Museum or Thang Long Imperial Citadel

Begin your half-day adventure in Hanoi with a visit to the iconic Ho Chi Minh Complex, a significant site that reflects Vietnam's rich history and cultural heritage. This complex includes: Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum: An imposing granite structure where the embalmed body of Ho Chi Minh, the founding father of modern Vietnam, is preserved. The mausoleum stands as a symbol of respect and admiration for the leader. Ho Chi Minh's House-on-Stilts: A modest wooden house where Ho Chi Minh lived and worked from 1958 to 1969. The house is surrounded by lush gardens and a tranquil fishpond, offering insight into the simple lifestyle of the revered leader. One-Pillar Pagoda: A unique Buddhist pagoda built in 1049, resembling a lotus blossom rising from a pond. This iconic structure is a symbol of purity and enlightenment and holds significant historical and cultural value. Next, continue to the Temple of Literature, Vietnam's first national university, founded in 1070. This well-preserved temple is dedicated to Confucius and honors Vietnam’s finest scholars and literary figures. Wander through its tranquil courtyards, lush gardens, and ancient architecture, and discover the rich educational history of the nation. Proceed to Hoa Lo Prison, also known as the "Hanoi Hilton." This former prison was used by French colonists for political prisoners and later by North Vietnam for U.S. prisoners of war during the Vietnam War.
