Located just minutes from Puerto Villamil, the Tintoreras Islet is famous for its lava channels where white-tip reef sharks (“tintoreras”) rest during the day, as well as penguins, marine iguanas, blue-footed boobies, turtles, and playful sea lions. Your adventure begins with a brief boat ride along the coastline. Along the way, you may spot Galápagos penguins, sea turtles, rays, and sea lions resting on the black lava rocks. Upon arrival to the islet, you’ll follow a guided trail across striking volcanic terrain. Highlights include: Lava channels that shelter white-tip reef sharks, Large colonies of marine iguanas, Blue-footed boobies and other seabirds, Crystal-clear pools surrounded by twisted lava formations.
