The best waves come to these shores from May to October. Turning away from the beach, you’ll find an exciting terrain for adventures in nature. Plan a guided hike to the Pacaya Volcano, an active volcano that an expert can help you safely navigate. While you’re here, you’ll have the chance to see an eruption. For some wildlife spotting, visit sea turtle preserve or tour a nearby mangrove. If you feel like even more adventure, Coyolate River offers thrilling rafting tours.
Swell isn’t just for expert surfers – the camp is also inviting to beginners who have yet to stand up on their first wave. This is definitely the spot to learn. The hotel provides boogie boards and surfboards, so you can spend as much time as you want on the waves. If you need some entertainment during your downtime, the common area provides table games and there’s free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. In keeping with the laid back surfer culture, you’ll also find slack lines and beach volleyball courts on the grounds.
Architecture on the grounds mimics traditional homes, with roofs thatched with palm fronds. The villas and a nice collection of tropical plants surround a swimming pool. Choose from suites that are large enough for up to 5 guests, or book a bungalow all your own. The hotel provides breakfast and dinner in the dining hall, and the family-style meals encourage you to mingle and swap surf stories with other guests. This convivial atmosphere continues at the bar are lounge, where you’ll want to spend a few fun sunsets.
Accommodations and guest services are casual but designed to keep you very comfortable. Most of the suites get cooled by the ocean breezes, while the largest – a swim-up suite — comes with air conditioning. All of these suites come with private bathrooms and lovely views of the tropical plants that grow all over the grounds. They also have private bathrooms and welcoming, sunny interiors.
