Riding through Monterrico's mangroves is both peaceful and exciting. The setting here - with water and vegetation - is utterly tranquil. It's also extremely biologically diverse. You have a good chance of seeing migratory birds from January to March, and will enjoy aquatic flowers from July to November. You'll enjoy panoramic views of the volcano year-round.
Tule grasses grow alongside the mangroves. This grass is durable and is often used to make baskets and other handicrafts. Your guide will teach you about the grasses and explain how they are used by locals.
