Cross the Trang Tien Bridge — designed by the same architect as the Eiffel Tower in Paris — to reach Hue’s ancient citadel. For many years, only royals could enter the citadel, so the inner sanctums are still guarded by a series of gates, including the especially elaborate Imperial City Gate. Nearby the citadel you can embark on a ferry trip to ancient sites like Thien Mu Pagoda and Hue Nam Shrine.
