While in Quito, you can spend your time becoming acquainted with Ecuadorian culture and traditions. There are numerous museums to tour – including ones with exhibits on indigenous culture, musical instruments, and modern art – and a range of historical attractions to visit. Make your way to Plaza de la Independencia (Plaza Grande) to start your exploration of Old Town. Stop by La Compañía, an ornate church that is said to be one of the most beautiful in all the Americas. Once you’re ready for some food and drink, head to the La Mariscal neighborhood, which hosts an assortment of good restaurants and bars.
The Bernard Hotel is set in a safe and convenient neighborhood—it’s easy to walk to Plaza Foch or the artisan’s market from here. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. They are happy to recommend activities and restaurants to guests.
The rooms at the Bernard Hotel are large and have comfortable beds. Private bathrooms with hot water showers and a hair dryer provide you with a place to clean up after a day spent exploring Quito. Wi-Fi is offered and there is a large desk that you can use to work on your laptop. Store drinks and food in the mini-fridge and click on the 32” LCD TV when you’re in need of entertainment. Superior rooms are larger and include a sitting area, safety deposit box, and a bathtub.
Start your day off right with a complimentary buffet breakfast. Options include eggs, empanadas, meat, yogurt, cheese, bread, fruit, coffee, and juice. If you’d rather not head out and find a restaurant, you can dine at the Barnard Hotel’s Quinta El Girón restaurant. This restaurant offers tasty national and international cuisine and is open from 6:30 AM until 11:30 PM. Room service is also available.
If you need to get online to send an email (or update your Facebook status), you can do so at the hotel’s business center. There’s also a conference room and ballroom that can hold up to 250 people—this room is perfect for business meetings and social events.
The reception is open 24-hours a day and complimentary local newspapers are available in the lobby. Furthermore, the Bernard Hotel has an elevator, parking, and laundry service.
The staff here goes above and beyond to help. They let us check out late and keep the room when my daughter was sick on the last day. Cannot repay their kindness and attention.
