Hotel San Rafael mixes colonial design with contemporary luxuries in the heart of Antigua. The hotel is set in a home that dates back to the 19th century. A recent restoration preserved the form of this traditional home, including its brick, stone and stucco construction; its two courtyards; antique tile roof; and three water features. As you walk into the San Rafael Hotel, you’ll see the courtyard directly in front of you—the courtyard is planted with a variety of trees and native plants and is a lovely place to relax. All guests enjoy a welcome drink upon arrival.

Each of the seven rooms is absolutely gorgeous. They have high ceilings, colorful accents, and modern furniture. There’s a fireplace surrounded by comfy sofas and chairs, offering guests a fine spot to unwind beneath the light of a chandelier. The rooms’ king-size beds, hypoallergenic pillows, and down comforters guarantee a good night of sleep. The bathrooms are just as attractive as the rooms, with large granite countertops, travertine walls, and walk-in showers/and or sunken tubs. All rooms also include a cable TV, Wi-Fi access, and a safety deposit box.

An à la carte breakfast is offered to guests each morning. Sit outside and enjoy a leisurely meal complete with local coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. The breakfast menu includes traditional offerings as well as an array of rotating special dishes. Dinner can be had in the hotel’s elegant dining room. The dining room is also a wonderful place to enjoy a glass of wine beside a blazing fire.
