Shuco is a savory answer to a fully dressed hotdog. These open-faced sandwiches start with a toasted slice of bread or a bun, and then the streetside chefs add a savory meat — usually chopped-up hot dog, sausage, or steak – and pile on toppings like guacamole, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and pickled cabbage. Búfalo is a sandwich that comes on a sub roll, topped with chimichurri sauce, and pan fried steak or chicken. Try an authentic chalupa as well, which is known for its crispy, fried masa shell with its soft, chewy interior. These crunchy rounds get wrapped around slow-cooked meats and a few other fresh toppings. Trust us, it’s nothing like the Taco Bell knock-off. To conclude your tour and top off your meal, you’ll sip on a rich cup of hot chocolate.
You’ll travel to the hotspots for street food in an air-conditioned vehicle. Keep in mind that water as well as beers are included in your tour, but extra alcoholic beverages are extra. Your guide for this tour is a local, and the best possible person to introduce you to Guatemalan favorites.
