This first approach to the Ancient Maya culture will visit Complex Q, Temple of the Great Jaguar, Temple of the Masks, Temple IV, Lost World and the site museum. Stroll jungle trails and climb pyramids and temples. The monkeys, tropical birds and admire the Amazon-like flora will be there for you to explore.
Itinerary:
07:30 AM Departure from Santa Elena, Flores hotels heading to the Mundo Maya Airport to pick up passengers coming from Guatemala City to go to the Tikal National Park and visit the archaeological site. (Approximately 1 hour travel time).
Once you arrive at the Visitor Center, the guide will explain the model at the entrance before beginning the tour. Visit the Complex Q and R, Temples I, II, III, and IV, Central Plaza, the Acropolis North Central, and the Lost World.
3:30 PM Lunch at the park. Return to the airport for a flight back to Flores or your hotel in Santa Elena, Flores.
Does not include: Museum entrance and beverages.

The Maya Biosphere Reserve is the largest protected tropical forest in North America. Spreading across 4.3 million acres (1.7 million hectares) in Guatemala’s Petén department, this reserve protects huge expanses of forests and the Mayan ruins that lie within them.

Set within the northern reaches of Guatemala’s Petén department is the incredible Mayan site of Tikal. With its massive Mayan temples, steep limestone pyramids and thick green jungles, Tikal is undoubtedly one of the top attractions in Guatemala. The ruins and surrounding forest are located within the Tikal National Park.

The guide was passionate, and gave us more then expected
Local schedules were “rough estimates” and timing was not overly dependable. Tour and guides were expansive and knowledgeable. There was a bit of “captive audience” in the sense that the transportation and guides had clear favorites with local shops and restaurants.

On this visit to Tikal, you’ll visit the Great Plaza, Temple I, II, III and IV, and the astronomical observation complex.
The landscape surrounding Tikal changes dramatically as the sun begins to set. This tours lets you see the beginnings of the evening creep in, as nocturnal animals begin their daily routines, between 6 and 8 pm. Best of all, the angle of the setting sun illuminates parts of the canopy that you can’t fully appreciate during full daylight.
This tour takes you to Uaxactún, one of the oldest Maya cities in Guatemala. Uaxactún is notable for its astronomical observatory, and is thought to be the place where Mayans began developing their calendar.
