You’ll meet your horses and guides at a bed and breakfast called Finca Xetuc. Guides will show you the way through fields of coffee and corn to a lookout point, where you’ll have a clear view of the sunset.
During the summer, the sunset illuminates the surrounding volcanoes, and the volcanoes cast their reflection on the lake below. As Guatemala approaches winter and the days get shorter, fireflies will illuminate the semi-darkness as you return to Finca Xetuc. When you arrive back at the bed and breakfast, your guides will serve cocktails and appetizers.
This tour begins at 3:30 pm, with a pickup at either the boat dock or a hotel in Santiago de Atitlán. If you are arriving from somewhere else around the lake, you’ll need to arrange a private boat rental (the last of the regular boat taxis leave Santiago de Atitlán at 4:30 pm).
Let your trip planner know in advance your horseback riding experience level. They can provide horses for experienced as well as beginner riders.
