An Unforgettable Trip to Tikal
14 Day Guatemala Itinerary
Visiting Tikal is a one of a kind experience that we recommend to anyone traveling to Guatemala. Our family is fairly active and this exploration type vacation was just what we wanted.
An exciting family trip destination…
We decided on Guatemala as the destination for our family trip this year, and we stumbled upon Anywhere to help us put this trip together. We were interested in archaeology, nature, delicious food, and cultural experiences, which were provided in spades in the Guatemala itinerary that Bitty put together.
The highlight of our trip — Tikal Mayan Ruins…
The highlight of our trip would definitely be the tour to Tikal. Visiting Tikal is a one of a kind experience. Our guide took us through just a portion of this huge archaeological site telling us of many things — including Mayan history, archaeology, local trees and wildlife, and current preservation and restoration efforts. We did lots of walking from point to point but there was also plenty of time to explore sections on our own.
There are wooden stairs along many of the stone structures giving you fantastic views of the area. There were other tourists visiting but there was also plenty of room, and occasionally, another visitor piqued our interest to look at different things. Our tour picked us up from our hotel in the morning, stopped at other hotels and the airport before taking us to Tikal. Met some very nice folks along the way. At the end of the tour, there was a terrific lunch on site.
