Antigua is a pleasant town in Guatemala’s Central Highlands. Antigua was once the capital of Guatemala, but a major earthquake in the late 18th century changed that. These days, it’s one of the most lovely and historic towns in the country. There are all sorts of attractions explore – including museums, churches, and monasteries – as well as a number of restaurants to try. Active travelers can get outside the city to hike volcanoes and go mountain biking.
Hotel La Posadita is located about 5 blocks from Antigua’s Plaza de Armas. This central location allows guests to easily access some of the town’s best features. The hotel is set in a colonial-style building, which extends over two floors and wraps around a central courtyard. The stone courtyard has outdoor dining and lots of plants.
The hotel’s twelve rooms are comfortable and unique. They have tile floors, wooden ceilings, and locally made furniture. All have a private bathroom and hot water shower, as well as a cable TV and telephone. Some rooms have their own chimney and/or balcony.
Hotel La Posadita runs an onsite restaurant called La Hamburguesa Gigante (“The Giant Hamburger”). True to their name, the restaurant does serve a fairly large burger, as well as normal-sized quesadillas, sandwiches, salads, crepes, and traditional Guatemalan snacks. A wide variety of beverages are on hand to help slake your thirst—guests can take drinks to the hotel roof and enjoy views of Antigua.
Wireless Internet is available in public areas of this hotel.
