Sky Way Hanging Bridges Tour PhotoSky Way Hanging Bridges Tour Photo

On this tour you’ll hike through the forest that surrounds Lake Petén Itzá. The path traverses six hanging bridges that are suspended high in the forest canopy. They offer expansive views of the forest and the lake below.

In this part of the forest, the vegetation quickly changes with the elevation. Your hike will eventually reach the summit of Miramás Hill. Miramás Hill offers one of the best views of Lake Petén Itzá in all of Petén.

The Petén forest has beautiful old trees, including endangered species like mahogany and ceiba. Petén is best known for its dense population of birds, and there are over 280 avian species native to the area. On a hike through Petén you might also see monkeys, neon-colored frogs, and furry peccaries.

Bring a flashlight so you can see the nocturnal animals when you first arrive in the jungle. This time of day comes with another advantage, as the site has fewer visitors at this time of day.
