Hop on a boat to visit islands, reefs, and atolls. Ambergris Caye is Belize’s most popular island to visit, and it is highly developed with lots of visitor services. From here you can easily take boat trips to nearby reefs and atolls – Glover’s Reef Atoll and Hol Chan Marine Reserve are incredible spots for snorkeling. Divers come from all over the world to visit the Belize Blue Hole, an underwater sinkhole with enticing, dark blue depths.

You can see the Belize Barrier Reef at a selection of marine reserves in Belize. Sapodilla Cayes Marine Reserve, Laughing Bird Caye National Park, and South Water Caye Marine Reserve have uninhabited islands where you can take a break during diving expeditions. Bacalar Chico Marine Reserve is on the tip of Ambergris Caye and is accessible only by boat. While you visit these reserves you’ll keep an eye out for reef fish, rays, manatees, crocodiles, and sea turtles.

Reserves on Belize’s mainland provide a habitat for rare tropical animals, including elusive jaguars and tapirs. Hike through the tropical vegetation in the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve. You can go hiking to Maya sites in Mayflower Bocawina National Park. Swim in the magical waters of the 5 Blues Lake National Park.
