Guests of Las Tortugas revel in the luxury of staying at the only beach hotel in the area. Imagine this grand and glorious beach with miles of pristine golden sand at your doorstep. In addition to the buffer zones of native flora, the gardens will delight you with beautiful flowers and tropical plants. You will enjoy the delicious seafood and international dishes of our restaurant/bar. Depending on the time of year we harvest our own fruit, like the lemons for our Margaritas. Take a dip in our ocean front swimming pool or, at night, try the hot Jacuzzi under the stars.
Our ten rooms with private, hot water bathrooms are climate controlled spaces for resting up for the next nature excursion. Several rooms offer with cross ventilation if air conditioning is not your preference.
Canoes and a jungle boat are available for excursions in the 1500+ acre salt water estuary. There are excellent deep sea fishing excursions, white water rafting trips on the Tenorio River and trips to the Barra Honda Cave.
Great location. Would recommend taking an early morning canoe trip into the mangroves with Jonathan, a very passionate young man that loves the park. Room was clean/rustic (have to know that it was all handbuilt by Louis and a half dozen workers) and breakfasts were well prepared by friendly staff willing to teach some Spanish words. Office staff were helpful in trying to book turtle tours with park rangers, unfortunately the tours dates kept being pushed forward and would not start until after our stay, so we were not able to see leatherback turtles. Owner Louis was always around to talk to and we shared six evenings watching the sunset with him. Loved long walks on the beach. Thankfully away from the touristy side of Tamarindo.
It was very rustic, and right on the beach. There were monkeys in the trees in the parking lot which we enjoyed very much and there were a lot of Iguanas. I felt very safe taking hikes and the people were very friendly.
Many hotels claim to be eco friendly, but Hotel Las Tortugas truly is, you can barely see the hotel from the beach and it is juts there, all because they don't want to disturb the turtles, that is amazing! not to mention the staff who has been working at the Hotel for 20+ years...that tells you something!
