Asclepios is a wellness center in El Cacao de Alejuela, which is near the Poas Volcano and twenty minutes from Juan Santamaria Airport in the Central Valley Region of Costa Rica. Asclepios is designed to provide relaxation, revitalization, spiritual health, and physical well-being for guests. The retreat is equipped with an ionized swimming pool, amphitheater, fitness center, yoga and meditation pavilion, floatation camera, sauna, Hammam, Vichy and Scottish showers, 4 treatment lodges, a relaxation room, and an organic restaurant. The staff of expert spa therapists and holistic practitioners comes from all over the world with the knowledge to offer the highest quality care.
Guests have the option to try many different therapies or enter into a package program. Programs last one to three weeks and combine therapy sessions, treatments, and foods for a specific cleanse, purification, or rejuvenation that can translate into a stress reduced and healthier lifestyle. Services include eight types of massage, spa and hydrotherapy treatments, ancient therapeutic treatments, movement techniques, and nutrition or life enhancement coaching.
There are many available activities and natural attractions that surround Asclepios. Visit Poas Volcano, the famous La Paz Waterfall Garden, Orchid and Butterfly farms, the Bird and Animal Zoo, or take a canopy tour at Colinas del Poas. Tours of San Jose or a food tour can be arranged. Guests can enjoy hiking or horseback riding on the wellness center property.
Asclepios sits on 12,500 acres of natural land that has primary and secondary forests where the flora and fauna have been preserved. The center, only covering 20000 square feet of the property, is built with sustainable materials. Solar collectors utilize the natural ventilation and natural lighting of the buildings. The wellness center has an organic farm and continues to reintroduce native plants and animals to the landscape and educate the community about environmental conservation.
The on-site restaurant serves vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals made with organic vegetables and fruits grown on the Asclepios property. All of the dishes include the salad bar. Breakfast is included in the nightly rate and many of the programs include three meals a day.
Very nice room. Arrived late at night and left early the next morning so didn't spend much time there. Looked like a beautiful property surrounded by farms. Very surprising given the drive there through some industrial looking neighborhoods.
