You will hike through the rainforest and along the Celeste River, where you can observe one of nature's most intriguing phenomenons. Two brooks merge together, turning clear water into a divine hue of turquoise. This chemical reaction, due to the volcanic minerals present, makes for an astounding sight that can only be experienced at this unique location.
This challenging hike is a fantastic opportunity for healthy exercise and unforgettable experiences in one of Costa Rica's most unique hidden gems. Bringing hiking shoes, a camera, bug repellent is recommended.
Travel time from downtown La Fortuna is 2 hours approximately.
Attractions Visited

The Río Celeste winds through the verdant rainforest of Tenorio Volcano National Park. You can opt to see this bright blue river on a moderately challenging 4.5-mile (7.5 km) hike. It's also possible to take a 1-mile (1.5 km) hike that goes directly to the Río Celeste Waterfall from the entrance of the park.

Highway 6 is between two volcanic national parks – Tenorio Volcano National Park to the east and Miravalles Volcano National Park to the west. The rugged volcanic landscape is also home to a vibrant tropical forest.
