Hacienda Baru Rainforest Birdwatching

This tour begins just after daybreak, when birds are the most active—Hacienda Barú is home to around 300 species of birds. This scenic tour includes a stop for snack to recharge batteries.

Along the hike, you’ll look for species like trogons, motmots, antshrikes, manakins, tinamous, curasows. You’ll journey past old cacao plantations. After you hike for a couple hours, you’ll arrive at the campsite where your guide will prepare a traditional Costa Rican breakfast. This campsite is a nice place to relax and listen for interesting bird calls. Next, you’ll hike through primary forest, a type of forest that has completely undisturbed growth.

Walking shoes or sneakers, binoculars, sunscreen, hat, camera, water, and insect repellent.

Rules

Closed shoes are mandatory and a waiver is need to be filled it up. Adults over 50 years old need to check if it is possible to make the activity
