The Westin Golf Resort and Spa is located on the edge of Playa Conchal, the Guanacaste beach made of seashells. The hotel has its own 2,400 acres (971 ha), and the grounds include an 18-hole championship golf course.

From Playa Conchal you can walk to Playa Brasilito, which is lined with small seafood restaurants and lively bars. If you’ll be in the area for a few days, take a short trip north of the Westin to see Playa Flamingo, another lovely Guanacaste beach. Take a 25-minute drive south of the resort to see the bustling beach town of Tamarindo and the nearby wildlife reserve of Marino Las Baulas National Park, which is known for its nesting sea turtles that come ashore from September to April.

On the grounds you can wander around beautifully landscaped gardens dotted with fountains. Go for swim in a pool styled to look like a serene lagoon. This Westin is very family friendly and has a supervised Kid’s Club. Guests at the Westin have private access to a section of the beach and have free use of the hotel’s free bikes.

The spa is outfitted with a Jacuzzi that provides hydrotherapy. There’s a long list of spa services, including couples’ massages and treatments that incorporate local coconut shells. In addition to the fitness center, you can get a good workout with a tennis match or a round of beach volleyball.
