You can reach the Poas volcano crater after just a 15-minute walk from the park entrance. Poas Volcano is an active volcano, and you can see a bright, turquoise lake in the crater of the volcano. Drive around 25 minutes from the lodge to the La Paz Waterfall Gardens, which features five waterfalls and a variety of wildlife exhibits. While you’re here you can see hummingbirds, jungle cats, monkeys, and a snake exhibit. You can also drive around 40 minutes to get to Doka Coffee Estate, where you’ll see a busy Costa Rican coffee plantation and try some fresh, local brew.
Rooms at Poas Lodge will make you feel at home with spacious beds and large windows that let in a lot of natural light. Muted colors and simple furnishings add to the rustic vibe.
Every room offers guests Wi-Fi access. Each room also has its own bathroom with a hot water shower. You can also use the coffee maker in your room, and turn on the heater to make your accommodations nice and cozy. Entertain yourself by watching the satellite TV.
Order a drink and sip it in front of the fireplace in the lode’s pleasant sitting room. Poas Lodge serves a hearty mix of classic Costa Rican cooking and international options. Breakfast is included in your stay, and dinner is served every evening. You can also have lunch at the lodge’s restaurant with an advance reservation.
They offered us a second room, free of charge. The lodge has a lot of potential and will likely become even better in the future. We went on a local coffee tour as suggested by the host.
