Dantica is the closest hotel to the newly created Los Quetzales National Park. Nearby you can visit the Cerro de la Muerte — at a height of 2 miles (3.5 km), it's the second-highest point in Costa Rica. It offers incredible vistas of the Pacific Ocean and the volcanoes in the distance. This is one of Costa Rica's top destinations for bird watching, and a guided tour can introduce you to species endemic to the cloud forests.
When you're ready to try some local cuisine, you walk to the many restaurants that serve Costa Rican as well as international options. At the restaurant you can enjoy a breakfast, lunch or dinner a la carte. In our beautiful and large gallery you can buy art and handicrafts from Costa Rica and other Latin American countries.

A unique lodge with a fantastic vista from each bungalow. The sitting area and separate bedrooms was good for our party of 6. The nature tours arranged through the hotel were great! The quetzal tour was successful, the paramo tour beautiful and informative, and my daughter enjoyed her birding tour to the waterfall. Gorgeous oak cloud forest and the roads, though twisting, had beautiful vistas and we didn't have to drive.
The setting in the mountains was amazing! The staff was always very accommodating and more than eager to help. The meals at the restaurant also very good.
The lodge is so far up in the hills, sitting above the cloud line it feels like heaven! We had a 2 bedroom superior room (Bungalow). It was nothing short of wonderful. Both bedrooms had en suite bathrooms, one very large with a jacuzzi, the other smaller, with a shower. Both bathrooms very very well equipped with towels, shower gel, soap etc. There was a hair dryer in the larger bathroom. The bungalow had a large living area with comfortable couches, dining table and chairs, TV and kitchen area complete with fridge. All the rooms have an ethonol (lots provided) burning fire which took the night chill off the rooms. You are so high up (approx 2600m) that it really does get chilly at night. In the main living room one "wall" is made completely of glass, giving the most fantastic views over the valley. To keep with the tone of the place, the food here was heavenly too, which is just as well as there is nowhere else to go, make sure you book! Andre and his wife have obviously worked hard to reach this high standard and are doing very well to keep it that way. There is also a delightful gallery of wares for sale, from countries across Central America.
