Tortuga Lodge and Gardens

The Tortuga Lodge and Gardens is on Costa Rica's northeast Caribbean coast, just offshore of the port town of Limon. Limon is a lively town with a distinct Jamaican influence in the ambiance and foods. The draw of Tortuguero is its slow-moving tropical rivers, astounding rainforests, and the Tortuguero National Park, one of the most important nesting sights of the Green Sea Turtle.

Activities in the area include hiking through the Tortuguero National Park and its beaches, sports fishing, kayaking, and an amazing rainforest boat tour. You can reach the lodge by boat, or be flying to Tortuguero — there are regular flgihts from San José.

The lodge is situated on 50 acres of private land. Here you'll discover delectable meals created by the chef, Valentin, who specializes in local and international dishes. Designed to blend into the river environment, the pool features an environmentally friendly purification system that uses an undetectable amount of salt instead of commercial chlorine. For a day of relaxation, try the hammock hut, perfect for a mid-day nap.

All the accommodations are beautifully decorated and have almost as much window area as walls, thus merging the indoors with the outdoors. The luxurious, 800 square foot suite, great for families, is made of sustainable-growth harvested tropical woods. There are two bedrooms and two baths, with a sitting area indoors and outdoors.

Includes: Shared round trip boat transfers to/from your Caño Blanco Dock, bilingual guide, lodging, 3 meals per day, snacks in the afternoon. It also includes: Natural History Boat Excursion, Twilight Tour of Tortuga Lodge Reserve (7 years old minimum), A journey into the History and Culture of Tortuguero Village, Kayaking the Mystical Canals of Tortuguero (9 years old minumum, children between 9 and 14 years old must share the kayak with an adult), and Hiking to Cerro Tortuguero (7 years old minimum, and you must have a good physical condition)
